The first Herreshoff 12 1/2s were built in 1914 by the Herreshoff Manufacturing Co. in Bristol, RI. Designed by Captain Nathanael Herreshoff himself, they were initially intended for younger sailors who would benefit from a sturdier vessel in the often heavy winds of Buzzards Bay.

Herreshoff 12 1/2s have been around and about Blue Hill Bay for decades but have only become a racing fleet at KYC in the last 20 years. The fleet has expanded to include Doughdishes & Bullseyes.

Race days are Wednesdays & Sundays with a 2pm start. The first race of the 2024 season will be July 7.
